RULE #1
Keep it dry.
Water makes hair swell from the inside out, which forces the cuticle up, which after a while will cause your hair to frizz and cause damage. Don’t wash your hair more than needed, if you can skip a day then great!
RULE #2
Stock up your shower.
When you do wash your hair, you should use a pre-shampoo. It works similar to a sealant, “smoothing” the hair’s cuticle before it gets wet to decrease any less damage.
RULE #3
Save those old shirts.
We kid you not: Your old cotton shirt is gentler on your hair. This is why top hairstylists always keep them on hand as they don’t rough up the cuticle as much.
RULE #4
Cool your head.
If your hair ever feels hot after your blow-dry, it means it’s still frying. Smash the cold-shot button on your hair dryer to prevent any more damage.
